Jayfeather's Imaginary Friends

Jayfeather is always talking to random whispery things and stuff. Are they ancient cats, or just imaginary friends? There hasn't been any proof that his time traveling is actually real. Maybe he just had to much catmint. Why else would he be in love with a stick? (and a person from the past that he probably made up.)
