Better Change your Name to Firefur because you just got BURNED!

Jayfeather, Jayfeather, Jayfeather. Tsk tsk. A somewhat brilliant medicine cat and the only adult cat with a sense of humor in the entire series. I admire him, but he REALLY likes to burn people. and when I say REALLY, I mean REALLY. In fact, when he gets Brightheat as his mentor he says,

"Great, let's round up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them."

Ouch.

Now, we all have to admit that Jayfeather was half the reason we read 'Power of Three' in the first place. He's probably the most developed character in the series. (Besides... like 20 other people.)

Is there a reason for his snarky humor and grumpy attitude?

He is blind. He's felt different since he was just a small kitten. His grumpiness probably evolved from that aspect of his life, but what about his humor? He really likes being dry with other cats, and doesn't trust anyone. My first guess was that when he realized who his mother really was he realized he couldn't trust everyone and hid behind his humor, but he's been like this his entire life.

Nature, or nurtutre?
