Um. Aaanybody know why Thornclaw is still a warrior? He's just as old as Graystripe! Maybe he has a secret store of anti aging cream in his nest that he puts on every day so Bramblestar doesn't notice.

Ooh! That ties in with the fact that he doesn't have a mate. Here's how that works:

So, Thornclaw is a loyal to the clan or whatever, maybe he wants the insurance benifits of being a senior warrior. But whatever the reason, Thornclaw is using his anti - aging serum to trick Bramblestar into thinking that he's still young. Well, now go smell anti-aging cream. Ew, right? WELL, maybe he doesn;t have a mate because of the smell! AND, since he smells bad, he doesn't catch that much prey because the smell alerts prey, so Squirrelflight punishes him by putting him on guard all the time! woa. Mind Blown.
